The THW relief agency in Melle uses an LA 911 B.

The model series.

In the 25 years it was built, it was predominantly the all-wheel-drive variant of the 911 which enjoyed ever-increasing popularity: the technology in the vehicle was modern while the operating costs were comparatively low. During the Cold War era, the off-road LA 911 B trucks were sold in great numbers.

By 1984 the plant had produced around 30,000 units. From 1973 two further engine variants with 96 kW (130 hp) and 124 kW (168 hp) respectively were available in addition to the original OM 352 variant with its output of 81 kW (110 hp). Unlike on the successor models, an engine brake was still not included as part of the standard equipment but was available as an option.
