Meet the Actros that's bringing people together

ACTROS

Lovie's affair with Mercedes-Benz trucks takes a fresh course

Long-standing Mercedes-Benz truck operator Lovie Quarry & Concrete Products is now running its latest vehicle. This new Actros 2553 is already proving its worth as part of the Lovie fleet, crossing international borders with specialised cargo.

Sun and sand.

The Actros at the heart of this story not only brought Lovie and BLS together, but is now delivering sand, aggregates, stone, concrete blocks and precast products across the North-East of Scotland, and occasionally beyond.

In fact, the truck recently returned from delivering a highly specialised consignment of bunker sand to a golf course in sunny Majorca - a far cry from its new home with Lovie, near Fraserburgh.

The truck that speaks for itself.

This travelling truck replaces a Mercedes-Benz that had been going strong with Lovie for nine years. When the time came to upgrade, the company knew that only an Actros would be up to the demanding job.

“We tend to run our trucks for a long time,” said Michael Lovie, a partner in his family-owned business. “Experience has proved they are built to stand the pace, while compared to other brands represented in our fleet they are also highly competitive in terms of unladen weight and fuel efficiency.”

Bringing people together.

Although Scotland-based Lovie has enjoyed being involved with Mercedes-Benz since the 1970s, the arrival of their new Actros 2553 represents the start of a fresh chapter in this historic relationship.

It was newly established BLS Truck & Van, who only began trading in July of this year, that supplied the truck. Purchase of the Actros seems to have cemented a firm bond between the two companies and they look set to enjoy a strong and lasting working relationship.
