Keeping promises with reliable trucks

MERCEDES-BENZ FLEET

When only the best will do – trust Mercedes-Benz.

Nick Pelosi Ltd excels in delivering cars on time – for which it only uses the very best; Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles. Company founder Nick chats to RoadStars about why he’s been a lifelong fan of the brand and the impact the vehicles have made on his successful business.

Great trucks underpin a reputation for getting the job done.

Car transporter Nick Pelosi Ltd, based in Milton Keynes, understands the importance of choosing the right equipment to deliver a reliable and professional service; that’s why all of the company’s vehicles bear the three-pointed star. Owner Nick Pelosi has been a lifelong fan of the brand, starting with his first Mercedes-Benz car in 1998, right through to his growing fleet of Mercedes-Benz trucks. His fascination began when he was a teenager, as he puts it, “I’ve lived and breathed Mercedes since I was fifteen years old, from C Class to S Class, Sprinters to the V8 Actros. I won’t have anything else.”

Nick started his company in 2016 with just two 3.5 tonne Sprinter transporters, before obtaining his operator’s licence later that year. The business works with Britain’s leading car dealerships providing next-day transportation services nationwide for stock transfers, port collections, new and used car deliveries and customer handovers.

A comprehensive range of Mercedes-Benz trucks.

Nick’s all-Mercedes-Benz fleet consists of entirely used vehicles, which he keeps in tip-top condition with overnight maintenance at the company headquarters. The fleet includes:

  • Actros 1860
  • Actros 1844
  • Actros 2532
  • Axor 2533
  • Atego 1524
  • Atego 1224
  • Atego 1018
  • Atego 823
  • Atego 818

The Actros 2532 rigid has covered over 1.2 million kilometres so far, whilst the V8 Actros 1860 tractor is ‘pride of the fleet’, due to it being top of the range when it was new. It was originally used on the PGA golf tour all over Europe before being sold to another owner and then to Nick.

The business also operates a fleet of Sprinters, along with a classic 1998 1820 SK, which has only 47,000 miles on the clock. The SK was previously used by Avon and Somerset Police to tow a catering unit, which provided meals to officers working at events. Nick plans to fit the vintage truck with a Belle transporter body and take it to truck shows.

“As a logistics business owner, keeping our trucks on the road is paramount. Our customers rely on us and we rely on our Mercedes-Benz trucks to keep our promises.”

Keeping your vehicles and your business moving.

“As a logistics business owner, keeping all our trucks on the road is paramount. Our customers rely on us and we rely on our Mercedes-Benz trucks to keep our promises. A huge advantage of Mercedes-Benz is their wide range of vehicle types, which we use to match the right truck to every job.” Nick explained.

Nick and his team have amassed a huge amount of experience with the brand, and developed strong relationships with Mercedes-Benz dealers. “We use three different Mercedes-Benz dealerships and we always get what we need, promptly. We’re never going to change as we know the product and the people so well. We only buy genuine parts – we understand how they work and use the parts portal to view what is in stock. We’re obviously committed to the brand; our loyalty and enthusiasm for Mercedes-Benz is recognised; the dealerships know us. It would be hard to get that with a mixed-brand fleet.”

The company avoids vehicle downtime by first choosing the right trucks and then running overnight maintenance to make sure all the fleet capacity is on the button every working day. “The whole package, reliable trucks and reliable parts supply, works. That’s more important to me than anything else.” he said.  Avoidance of downtime and round-the-clock support has proved essential for the business and are part of the reason Nick stays true to the brand.

“When our trucks arrive, the customers know we do it right. In nearly five years of operating, I’ve never had to do any marketing as the trucks do it for us.”

Impressive liveries.

Nick is also a big believer in the presentation standards of the vehicles, “Mercedes-Benz is synonymous with quality. Our simple livery and finishing touches are easily recognisable. Overall, the trucks do a lot of the talking for us; we aim to demonstrate our philosophy in the trucks – they are what everyone sees first. We all know the maxim ‘you only get one chance to make a first impression’.”

The fleet colour is dark metallic grey, with orange details. “When our trucks arrive, the customers know we do it right. In nearly five years of operating, I’ve never had to do any marketing as the trucks do it for us. The trucks all have Alcoa alloy wheels with orange centres; lots of people know them as the shiny trucks with bright orange wheel centres.”

“I’ve always liked driving and have always taken great pride in my vehicles,” said Nick. In fact he still enjoys cleaning them himself with his son on weekends!

The three-pointed star for life.

The car transportation sector is demanding and car sales teams need to meet or beat their customer expectations for deliveries. Nick Pelosi Ltd has carved itself a niche in the sector by offering next day – on occasions even same day – stock movements and deliveries on competitive terms.

“Our fleet mix gives us terrific flexibility and the trucks’ reliability means we can keep challenging promises. We pride ourselves on our fleet utilisation because it boosts our competitiveness, and we can help our customers save money on their vehicle movements. These are all benefits built on the foundation of choosing Mercedes-Benz trucks.”

We think the three-pointed star has a fan for life!
