Truck Generations

Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, Mauá pier.

Once the location where goods from all over the world were processed, today it is the place where tens of thousands of cruise passengers from all over the world set out on their dream trip.

The Mauá pier in Rio de Janeiro is an integral part of the route plans of many huge vessels. The first cruise ships docked here in 1998. Since 2007, the numerous warehouses at the large port facility which stretches over more than 40,000 square metres, have been serving as an exclusive location for relaxed parties with Brazilian flair as well as for conferences and concerts. At the biggest events, up to 10,000 visitors enjoy the breathtaking view of Guanabara Bay, whose entrance is kept under the watchful eye of the world-famous Sugarloaf Mountain.

A huge amount of event technology is necessary for the numerous events – and the L 312, known as the ‘Torpedo’, takes care of that. Vehicles of this model series were some of the first to roll off the production line in the Mercedes-Benz São Bernardo do Campo plant in Brazil in 1956.
