2022, a year of innovation, celebration, and dedication

A three-pointed star recap.

A three-pointed star recap.

As we look back on 2022 for Mercedes-Benz Trucks UK, three words spring to mind: innovation, celebration and dedication. Not only did we expand our ePortfolio and win not one, but two prestigious awards, we also got back into eventing, allowing us to reunite face-to-face with our dedicated trucking community.

Innovation, it runs through us and everything we do.

A particular highlight of the year was our attendance at the IAA Transportation show in Hanover, Germany. During the event, we announced a major expansion to our ePortfolio by unveiling two further all-electric trucks - the Mercedes-Benz eActros LongHaul and the eActros 300 tractor unit.

Our award-winning eActros LongHaul was a major talking point this year and it’s not surprising to understand why.  The all electric, heavy-duty truck has a range of around  500 kilometres on a single charge and is capable of lightning-quick performance charging, with series production planned for 2024.

We also announced two further additions to our portfolio, the Mercedes-Benz eAtego, and the newest and most exceptional addition to our special edition range of trucks, the Mercedes-Benz Actros L Edition 3.

Two celebrations for the three-pointed star.

2022 brought us not just one, but two awards! The first of which was presented during IAA Transportation in Hanover, as our CEO Karin Randstrom accepted the ‘2023 Truck Innovation’ award during the event.

Judges revealed that their decision was largely down to the innovative overall technological concept of the vehicle, with LFP battery technology, the new Mercedes-Benz e-axle, and Mercedes-Benz Trucks’ high development speed.

Our success continued months later, as we won the prestigious ‘HGV manufacturer of the Year’ award at GreenFleet for a second year in a row, ending 2022 on a high note!

Truck event triumphs

If there’s anything we enjoy more than attending and winning awards at events, it’s meeting some of the truckers that make the three-pointed star such a success.

Getting back into trucking events has been a real highlight of the year after a pause during the pandemic. It has been an honour to reunite with our valued trucking community up and down the country.

This year marked our long-awaited return to Truckfest as we experienced passion, pride, and personality from drivers and owners of our vehicles.

The event saw thousands of passionate truckers descend upon Peterborough during May’s sunny bank holiday, and we got to talk face-to-face with truck drivers about their daily lives and what they love most about their Mercedes-Benz Trucks.

Andy ‘Bones’ Jones and Paul Briscoe, two of the drivers we spoke to during Truckfest, ended up starring in their own RoadStars article shortly after!

It’s been a hugely successful year for our brand in the UK, but we can’t take all the credit for the past 12 months. For the Mercedes-Benz Trucks driver community has been our linchpin throughout. As we reflect on the year with the three words innovation, celebration, dedication, there is also no better phrase to explain the devotion and passion of our
community.
