Active Brake Assist 5 becomes standard equipment

Assistance systems

Milestone for safety.

As of January 2020, Active Brake Assist 5 is part of the standard equipment for the Actros and Arocs Europe-wide.1

Safety is paramount – and everyone who sits behind the wheel of a heavy truck knows what a responsibility they bear. In order to provide you with the best possible assistance, Active Brake Assist 5 is part of the standard equipment for the Actros and Arocs as of the beginning of the year.

Important for you to know: like all assistance systems from Mercedes‑Benz, the latest generation Active Brake Assist is equipped in such a way that you receive optimum support – but your actions always take precedence over those of the vehicle.

That applies when driving in heavy urban traffic, along narrow country roads or on motorways.

Right up to full-stop emergency braking.

The fifth generation of Active Brake Assist assists the driver 2,3 by initiating a full application of the brakes in response to stationary and moving objects, as well as initiating a partial or full application of the brakes in certain conditions up to a vehicle speed of 50 km/h in response to moving pedestrians, thereby reducing the severity of accidents or avoiding accidents altogether.

The standard regulation applies to all European countries where the law stipulates the installation of an emergency braking assistance system, as well as for vehicles which have hitherto been equipped with Active Brake Assist.

[1] Standard for vehicles that are required by law to have an emergency braking assistance system.
